how to add vlc to yocto

Does anyone know if you want to add VLC player to the yocto system of imx8? Many methods have been tried but failed.whether anyone has successfully added, if so, please help to inform, thank you

Hello Fu Qiang,

There is not VLC recipe available as part of the Yocto BSP release or Community BSP.

There were some efforts by third parties to integrate VLC on i:MX boards in the past (link below)

However, I haven’t heard of efforts in newer layers. VLC is open source so you may write your own Yocto recipe, although this is not a trivial task.
