Virtual Channel H/W feasibility in iMX8M

I came across a couple of threads regarding Virtual channel support in iMX8M and came to know it is not supported currently.

Is this a hardware limitation or a software limitation? If this is a software limitation, is there any plan to support the virtual channel in the near future in iMX8M?
