I checked the reference manual but couldn't see any info regarding SD card support. Does imx28 support SDHC and/or SDXC cards?

imx28 supports SDHC but not SDXC cards.

IMX28 supports sd card. SSP support sd/sdio and mmc

Check the chapter 17 Synchronous Serial Ports (SSP)

The SSP supports MMC/SD/SDIO 1-bit, 4-bit, and 8-bit modes.
