Procedure to apply Patch for Kernel(2.6.35) in Ltib

Hi,

   I am using Linux 2.6.35.03 kernel. I am working on FlexCAN. I had installed "canutils" and "libsocket". But i am not able to set the bitrate with following command

ip link set can0 type can bitrate 125000

it was showing following error

RTNETLINK answers: operation not supported

I posted the query and I got patch from the Community. Could you please tell me the procedure to apply patch for kernel
