MX7D MIPI DSI max. resolution in portrait format

We are looking for a display for our embedded board. Actually we would like to run a 7'' display with 800x1280px on i.MX7D. Normally this total number of pixels should not be a problem. According to the reference manual the i.MX7 (Maximum resolution ranges up to SXGA+(1400 x 1050 @ 60 Hz, 24 bpp).

But in some posts I have read that the horizontal and vertical limits should not be exceeded.

• Can someone explain in more detail why?
• Or does anyone have experience in using a higher resolution?

max. resolution does not depend on mode (portrait or landscape),

higher resolutions may cause performance problems, like low fps.
