Hello, I'm looking at using the Display Port capabilities of the HDMI_TX on the IMX8QM and found in the imx-hdp.c driver that the resolution is capped to a max of 4k. The Display Port 1.3 spec supports up to 8k resolution, albeit at 30Hz.
I am curious as to the cause of the 4k resolution cap. Is there a hardware limitation preventing any greater resolution or is there a newer version of the driver that removes the limits?
Thanks!
for imx8qm hdmi support:
- HDMI -> 4K@60
For HDMI 4K@60 you have to combine DC0-0 and DC0-1, which means you lose MIPI-DSI0 and LVDS0,
conversely if you use either of those interfaces you are limited to HDMI 4K30.
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. In my application it is fine to lose the DSI and LVDS interfaces. Display Port will be the only video interface used.
Given this information, is it not possible to exceed 4k resolution even at a lower refresh rate? I thought Display Port 1.3 supported 8k 30Hz while in SST mode.
couldn't support 8k
