Using CAN FD with S12

I am looking for a way to use CAN FD with S12. From what I’ve found, one method is to use an external CAN controller. Products like the TCAN4551 or MCP2518FD can be used in a configuration like MCU - SPI - Controller to utilize FD CAN.

What I’m curious about is whether NXP has a module like this, and if there’s an easier method than SPI control.

There is just one NXP Stand-alone CAN controller, but it does not support CAN-FD.

As you mention, the solution is to use a 3rd-party controller with the S12 series.

There are S32K1xx, S32K3xx automotive MCUs that support CAN-FD though.
