What dose it mean about MC33771C the number of channels?

I saw the datasheet of MC33771C that the IC with the designation CTA2AE is mentioned to have 'Number of channels' specified as 7 to 8 channels.
Does this mean that it can only read up to 8 battery cells?

Hi Ihsiang,

The IC will still measure all the cell voltages according to a fixed sequence of channels measurements, but measurement values of unused channels (CT5...CT10) will be simply meaningless, the pack controller shall disregard them.
