My friend has implanted an NXP Mifare Ultralight C (NTAG216) into his hand. He can unlock his doors at home, at work, at school and at the gym - only by waving his hand in front of the sensors. He lives a key-less life.
He tells me he met some complications at first - because the sensor/antennas in some of the locks were too low to communicate with the chip in his hand. He requested that the lock-people increased the power of the antennas, and got his wish granted - and it worked. Perfectly.
They are installing similar locks in my apartment building at home, and I am going to do the same.
I am wondering if there are newer and better chips to consider.
I have analysed all my access cards and key cards, and all of them show "NXP MIFARE Classic 1k" ISO 14443-3A. Some of them 2k, I think.
Are there any newer chips coming right around the corner that I should wait for perhaps?
