How to start with IMX27 running Linux

We would like to start a custom board design including an IMX27 chip.

I would like to know if there is some support for Linux in this processor and how to start with it.

Is the Linux BSP valid for custom board designs or only for ADS development board?

I would recommend you to download the Linux BSP for MX27ADS. You can use it as reference and adapt it for your custom hardware. It is available at: http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?nodeId=02VS0l320822D0033202A7

As I have been reading trough the forum and documents, evaluation boards come with a flash with Redboot. And then, this loader lets you put kernel image in RAM or even in flash.

But, since we are using a custom board, we will have an empty flash. Is there any way to program the flash in a custom board with Redboot?

I have been searching for a tool called "HAB_toolkit". Is this suitable for this purpose?

You can use a JTAG for helping you during your board bring-up process.
