56f8323 - SPI, how can i drive the SS1 Pin

Hello,    i want to use a seriell flash memory from st at a 56f8323. How can i toggle the SS1 pin? I want to use this pin for CS. Or must i use a GPIO pin for CS?

As far as I understand SS pin in this MCU may be configured as input or it state ignored at all. So configure this pin as GPIO output.
