CAN-FD is a new CAN bus frame format, developed by Bosch. The current version was also published as
an international standard ISO 11898-1:2015. It allows for up to 64 bytes of data per frame and
significantly higher bit rates. Note that the first CAN-FD implementations are referred to as non-ISO
CAN-FD and should not be used due to flaws in the CRC handling. The ISO version of CAN-FD not only
fixes the flaws but has an increased hamming distance. With CAN-FD, nodes can transmit more data,
faster and with improved data integrity, while retaining all other features that make CAN ideal for
industrial communications.
