What version of CodeWarrior should I use?

A couple of years ago at university I did some development for HCS08 devices using a P&E USB BDM Multilink. At the time, there was a free version of CodeWarrior available that allowed me to code in C and flash and debug the MCUs.

I've recently managed to get my hands on a P&E USB BDM Multilink again and I'm trying to get it to work with a new computer.

I still have CodeWarrior (version 6 I think) installed on the laptop I used at university (Windows 7 32-bit) and it works properly with the USB BDM, but I want to develop on my new desktop (Windows 7 64bit). However, I cannot find the right software for the job. I've installed the CodeWarrior Special Suite but it is unable to flash the MCU - also I would rather continue to use the Classic interface rather than the new Eclipse interface if possible.

What do I need to download to get this to work?

Hi Colin,

Classic edition v6.3 is not supported by 64 bit win 7 OS, you can use a workaround and work with virtual XP option on win 7, check the Application note 3936 for more information:

http://cache.freescale.com/files/soft_dev_tools/doc/app_note/AN3936.pdf?fsrch=1&sr=1

Another options is to work with eclipse based release CW 10.3, this version can run on windows 7 64 bit

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=CW-MCU10&tid=CWH

Check also this note in regards P&E compatibility with win 7 64 bit

http://www.pemicro.com/blog/post.cfm/all-p-e-software-now-works-under-windows-7-and-64-bit-os

You are probably missing the drivers for the P&E BDM can you download the drivers from this link: P&E Microcomputer Systems and look for this driver: P&E Hardware Interface Drivers, Version 11 (Win XP/Vista/7/8)

If this does not solve your issue can you tell me what is the exact error please?

Regards,
