Hi,

I wanted to know, how to configure CodeWarrior, so that I can use it on different computers. Both Computer are a the same network and I think is must be possible that can share the license.
Or in other words, one computer acts as an license server and gives the license to the computer that needs it.
I have installed the FLEXlm and he finds the other system, but CodeWarrior does not take the license from the FLEXlm.

Hello

Not sure which processor you are targeting (HC08, Coldfire, ...) and which version you are using.

Answer to that question might depends on the target CPU, version number and product you have ordered.

Here is the answer for the latest CodeWarrior products.

Basically if you want to share a license between two computers you have following solutions:

1- Use one computer as a license server and have the two computer consuming the license there. If you want to go this way you have to order a floating license for 1 user. Then you have to install FLEXlm software on the license server and start a service to make th license available. This is explained in the user manual.

2- Get the license linked to a USB dongle. Just place the dongle in a USB port on on machine to be able to use the tool on that machine. In that case you have to order a dongle license.

Be careful, solution 2 only works with recent version of the tools.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I want to use the 56f83xx processor. And the CodeWarrior is Version 7.2 I think.

So solution one is what I want and I think I have to get the user manual from the IT-Support and have a close look at it.

Thank you.

Hello

Did you order a floating license or a single user one?
Did you order a special edition? ... We do not deliver floating licenses for special edition.

If you ordered a floating license and after you have  installed FLEXlm software, take a look at the file C:\FLEXlm\htmlman\enduser.pdf.Section 6.3.2. Configuring the License Manager as a Windows Service provides info on how to do that.

Hi,
A friend of mine installed CodeWarrior into a virtual machine (VMware). This enables him to use a single license at work, at home and on his notebook. He simply copies the virtual machine files (about 300 MB, because it contains a whole operating system) where he needs them.
In his opinion this is not a license violation because he bought one licence.
I'm not sure if this helps you...

Hello

So it looks like you fixed your problem.

I do not know if this violates licensing policy. I would recommend you to check with your local Freescale distributor.

Hi,

I fixed my problem. It was just some settings on my computer that wasn't right.
The licens server and the floating licens were ok. The problem was onyl to tell my computer, that he can get the license from the server.

Thank you for your help.
