Is the CodeWarrior USB Tap useful in a Linux environment?

We have boards using the MPXS2010 PowerPC processor.
We have an environment where we develop code using GCC under Cygwin.
We are moving away from Cygwin to run a Linux virtual machine, with GCC running with 'wine'.

Next step is to have a native PowerPC compiler under Linux.

I understand that CodeWarrior does not allow compiling natively on Linux (wine is not an alternative)

I need to understand how I can debug the code.

We have a Trace-32 that is used to debug code, but we need an additional seat, and the Trace-32 is very expensive. I happen to have a "CodeWarrior USB TAP, rev F"

This is no longer sold.

  • What is the latest version of CodeWarrior, where this is supported on Windows?
  • Can the "CodeWarrior USB TAP," be used by any other toolchain?
  • Can the "CodeWarrior TAP" (with Ethernet) which is still active be used by anything but CodeWarrior?

It appears that is it supported in the CodeWarrior 11 running under Windows.

Hi,

I'm afraid that CodeWarrior (USB) TAP is not an option.

MPXS2010 was an 'industrial' version of MPC5643L microcontroller and these devices are not supported by this tool.

Lukas
