I was just notified that this part has gone obsolete. It has an end of life buy at this time, but I need to come up with a replacement part. Any suggestions or feed back would be much appreciated.
Hello,
In addition to the MC9S08QG8, other possible possible devices available with reduced pin count packages might include -
MC9S08QB8, MC9S08QE8, MC9S08SE8, MC9S08SG8, MC9S08SH8
Some of the devices are limited to 3.3 volt operation, whereas others are capable of 5 volt operation. The number of peripherals will vary between devices.
Your original code will probably need to be re-written to take into account the new peripheral operational requirements (particularly the timer), and also a potentially higher bus frequency.
Regards,
Mac
Mac is - as always - right. The 3.3V voltage applies to some small 9S08s.
And Mac did not mention the HC908 series probably because in some months you could be looking again for a substitute.
S08s are also much better for production line, in-circuit (re)flashing will take only one pin at bed-of-nails testing and this pin is not necessarily dedicated. Remeber that KJ1 needed to be pre-programmed before assembly.
Regards,
Celso
