Programming FRDM-KL25Z using KDS V3.2 and KSDK 1.3 on macOS

Hello there,

I have a FRDM-KL25Z board, and I'm using KDS V3.2 and KSDK 1.3 on a Macbook. What software, besides KDS, do I need in order to program my board on macOS Sierra. I've seen another SW, Segger J-Link, but I don't understand why I need that if my board uses OpenSDA, and if I need it, which one? There are many J-Link softwares. I'm really confused with the SW required.

I already updated the bootloader. The SDA_INFO of my board is:

Bootloader version: 1.12

Installed Application: PEMicro FRDM-KL25Z Mass Storage/Debug App

Any info will be really appreciated.

Hello Carlos,

-From the KDS features introduce , KDS support  Mac OS X 10.10 and 10.11.

- Please first try to the OpenSDA (do not use external debugger Segger J-link),

refer to  the below steps update the on board debug interface to Jlink :

1)Press the Reset button (and keep it pressed) while power the board with the OpenSDA USB connector(J7):.
2)  The board will
show up as BOOTLOADER drive on your system:
3) Copy" 12_OpenSDA_FRDM-KL25Z.bin "
(I attached it for you) to the BOOTLOADER driver:
4) The copy operation takes about 2-3 seconds, after finished , unpower
 the board.
5) Power the board again normally .

- Then refer to KDS user guide -> Debugging projects to debug your project, please use a simple

project firstly.

Have a great day,
TIC

Hi Alice,

I found the file on the Segger's website. I downloaded from the J-Link OpenSDA board specific firmwares, KL25Z.

It has the same name so I guess that the file I need it to copy to the Bootloader. I'll try it and see if it works.

Thank you so much for your support. Have a nice week.

I might come back if I cannot make it work.

Hello Alice,

Thank you so much for the info. Just have a doubt, my computer has Mac OS 10.12.6, would it work on this?

Another thing, I cannot find the attached .bin file.
