After being involved with many USB device projects using KL, KV and K parts I have published a simple check-list at http://www.utasker.com/forum/index.php?topic=1924.0
This gives a few things to be checked to ensure that the USB device HW and driver are compatible, which may come in handy to identify initial difficulties. The individual points do also come up regularly in this forum so this may also generally avoid repeats of the same issues.
USB device drivers (and classes) can be easily made Kinetis part independent as long as these simple settings are automated to match the device used.
