I've just tried the GUI version of tool (distributed with  CW v8.2) and it leaves my 56f8356 DSP paused, although it appeared to program it. Am I missing some setting or other?

Hello

Which CPU are you targeting?

Which CodeWarrior products did you install?

To retrieve this data:
     - Start IDE
     - Select "Help" -> "About Metrowerks CodeWarrior"
     - Click on "Install Products"
     - Click on "Save As" to save the information in a text file.

What I am interested in is encoded between "Installed Products" and IDE version number.

Are you looking for a command line application for programming of on-chip flash memories?

It says :

Installed Products:
CodeWarrior 56800/E Hybrid Controllers version 7.0
IDE Version: 5.6.1.1658
Plugins: 100

I know there is something like "Flash over JTAG.exe" but i realy can't find it??
But there is also flash programmer built-in CodeWarrior.

I'll make myself a programmer from evaluation module schematics.
So what where how when???

Thank you for your support!

Hello

If you are looking for the flash_over_jtag utility, check following directory :

       {Install}ProcessorExpert\Tools\applications\flash_over_jtag.
There are two sub directory there depending if you want to use  a DSP5680x or DSP5682x chip or a DSP5683x chip.

Please refer to the Flash_over_JTAG.pdf manual for instruction.

Hi there. I´ve read your posts, but I miss some information about:

- apart from flash_over_jtag, is there any programmer which allows you to use the USBTAP (parallel port is disappearing in computers)?

- what license/version do I need to use the Flash programmer that comes with the Codewarrior? I´ve seen it in the codewarrior help, but I haven´t got the "Tools/Flash Programmer" menu (in my 56800/E Hybrid, 7.3 version limited to 32 K) to which help refers.

- is this Tools/Flash programmer able to use the USBTAP or it only uses the EPP?

- How do copanies do flash programming for production with modern computers (without parallel port) without openning the project in the Codewarrior IDE? It doesn´t seem to be the best way to do it. Do we have to buy one of this expensive 3rd party programmers? Can´t I do it with the USBTAP which costed me a lot?

Thanks in advance

Hello
I am not an expert in DSP tools, but here is what I can tell you around that topic.

On the web site there is a Standalone Flash programmer tool.
You can download it from following URL:
https://www.freescale.com/webapp/Download?colCode=56F8XXXFP&prodCode=CWH-UTP-ONCE-HX&nodeId=01272694...
I know this tool is working for the:
 - Usbtap for DSPE,
 - Wiggler cable for DSP/DSPE.
I'm not sure that the Usbtap interface is working for DSP with this tool.
If you need to program a DSP core through USBTAP, please submit a service request through our web interface to get more detail on that.

I hope this helps.

First of all, thaks for your reply, crasycat.

I´had already tried the tool you suggested (Flash Programming Tool for 56F83xx/1xx and 56F801x Digital Signal Controllers), but it doesn´t seem to be prepaired for 56f80x family. It even doesn´t include the config files for that family, and it doesn´t work with the config files that come with the codewarrior tools (for example flash805.cfg in the flash_over_jtag directory). And I´m not an expert, so I can´t even imagine writing my own config files for a software I had no documentation about.

I sent a technical request before joinning this forum, but they told me more or less the same (they suggested the same standalone flash programmer and neither assure it worked with 56f80x).

Nevertheless, thanks again and please tell me if you come up with any new ideas or comments.
