RT1170EVK debugging issue

Hi,

I am using RT1170EVK and facing some issues while debugging or flashing the EVK board from my laptop. Below setup I am using:

IDE: MCUXpresso IDE v11.9.0 [Build 2144] [2024-01-05]
SDK VERSION: SDK_2.14.0_MIMXRT1170-EVK
LinkServer Version: LinkServer_1.4.85

While debugging EVK connection got connection reset issue and not able to get the CMSIS-DAP probes serial number. Attaching Screenshot.

But getting no issue when using the same RT1170EVK from another laptop/PC or even if i use other RT1060EVK on my laptop. It seems issue this particular EVK from my laptop only.

I debugged further and observed, it seems some issue in Link server. I tried reinstalling IDE, SDK and the Link servers as well but still facing same issue.

Hi @Aditya_Jadoun ,

Thank you for your interest in the NXP MIMXRT product, I would like to provide service for you.

1. You can download the newest SDK2.5.0 for your RT1170:

https://mcuxpresso.nxp.com/en/builder?hw=MIMXRT1170-EVK

2. Delete all your SDK in your MCUXpresso IDE:

3. drag your newest SDK2.15.0 SDK to the above "installed SDKs" again.

4. Check your device manager, whether there have any error or not, if find some abnormal driver, remove it.

Hi @kerryzhou ,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I tried with newest SDK V2.15.0 after deleted older once, but still facing same issue. But in the Device Manger I am seeing one incompatible driver issue for WebUSB: CMSIS-DAP. I tried uninstalling it and then connecting the EVK again, it got reinstall but still same error.

Please suggest what can be done in this or if you can share from where I can download this driver manually?

Hi @Aditya_Jadoun ,

After you reinstall the CMSIS DAP, any issues in the device management or not now?

What's the CMSIS DAP version you are using now?

  Best Regards,

Kerry

Hi @kerryzhou ,

I am still getting this below error in the device manager:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Is there any way I can download this driver from somewhere?

Hi @Aditya_Jadoun ,

Please open this link, and download the cmsis driver:

https://os.mbed.com/handbook/Windows-serial-configuration

Then check, whether your CMSIS DAP can be installed correctly?

Then test it again.

Any updated information, please kindly let me know.

Best Regards,

Kerry

Hi @Aditya_Jadoun ,

  Please check the :

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers

This is my CMSIS DAP version situation:

kerryzhou_1-1707275466002.png

You can see, I don't have any issues.

Please share your related picture with me.

BTW, which PC OS you are using now?

Seems your PC can't install the CMSIS DAP successfully. Whether your PC install some firewall to prevent the CMSIS DAP to work?

After you install the mbed driver, do you power off and power on the PC again?

Best Regards,

Kerry

Hi @kerryzhou ,

Yes, I rebooted the PC after installing the driver. But the issue persists. I am using Windows 10 Enterprise.

It seems the issue is with that particular EVK kit with my PC only, I got another RT1170EVK, and it is working fine in my PC and that first EVK kit is working with other PC also. Not sure, but it seems somehow that particular EVK got blocked from my PC.

Hi @Aditya_Jadoun ,

Thanks so much for your updated information, and sorry for the later reply because of our Chinese Spring Festival.

That's so strange for your situation:

Issue EVK board + your PC= issue

Issue EVK board +other PC= no issue

Other EVK + your PC= no issue

Do you updated the EVK issue board CMSIS DAP version or not?

You still didn't give me the picture in:

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers

I want to check your CMSIS DAP version.

Another way, you can try to use the LPCScrypt to update your CMSIS DAP:

https://www.nxp.com/lpcscrypt

You even can use the JLINK firmware in the LPCScrypt, but you need to update the firmware:

https://www.segger.com/products/debug-probes/j-link/models/other-j-links/lpc-link-2/

Please also note, after you use LPCScrypt update the on board firmware, you also need to use the external power or another USB cable to power on your board.

Please try it on your side, if you still want this issue board + your PC.

Wish it helps you!

Best Regards,

Kerry
