iMX6UL EVK : how do I use the Arduino shield UART ?

Hello,

I want to use the UART brought to the Arduino shield footprint on the EVK baseboard.

I am running Linux off the SD card provided with the EVK.

"dmesg" shows that two UART are setup : ttymxc0 and ttymxc1, with the former being used for the console (USB-to-UART adapter chip).

I assume that it means ttymxc1 is the UART available on the shield pads. However, I can't get anything out of it.

I use minicom to send out bytes and check with an oscilloscope, nothing comes out. I tried shorting TX and RX, and I get no echo. The pins are both stuck to 3.3 V all the time.

I'm rather in a hurry and would like to avoid a deep dive into the EVK and the way Linux is setup. I'm hoping there's something simple I'm missing. Any help will be welcome.

Regards,

Jean Roch
