We were trying to setup a i.MX 8M Nano EVK Board with a graphical user interface. Our goal is to first have some kind of Desktop OS, like Gnome, and then compile/execute some applications with GUI.
Our first step was to build the core-image-sato with yocto.
Loading it into the board seems to be no problem, but when we boot the board and check the HDMI output we only get a shell.
When we try to manually start Xserver with startx we receive an error "Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all framebuffer devices" (See console_output.txt)
In /var/log/Xorg.0.log we see extended error.
We tried to let Xserver auto configure the board with Xorg -configure but this fails as well (Xorg-configure.txt)
Now we are stumped. We already tried resolving this on our own, but to no avail. According to Google we seem to be the only ones trying to setup a GUI on this board. Have we overlooked something?
There MUST be someway to get a GUI working on this board.
