We are working with the i.MX 8M Mini Evaluation Kit to prototype a new system. Currently, it appears as though the maximum number of simultaneous WiFi connections is limited to five. The DHCP is properly configured to lease out more than five addresses.
Is this limit controlled by the processor or selected wireless chip used on the eval kit? Can this be modified?
Thanks for responding radhika.somaiya@volansystech.com. We are using i.MX Linux Yocto Project BSP 4.14.98_2.0.0 Release, Linux Kernel 4.14.98.
Hi,Jason Pagnotta,
>>CPU & BSP
CPU and linux don't limit ti.
>> WIFI chipset & wifi driver
WIFI chipset and WIFI driver don't limit.
>> WIFI firmware
For most WIFI module, firmware limit the number of client to access the AP.
>> try to modify it.
You can try to change hostapd.conf file, which is probably feasible. But if it has been limited in firmware, the way will be invalid.
>>About other WIFI modules
I asked some WIFI providers or manufactures, such as realtek, and broadcomm, their max numbers for AP clients is 8 or 10.
So I advise you to modify hostapd.conf file to adjust the number.
Have a nice day!
