$ git clone https://source.codeaurora.org/external/imx/linux-imx -b L4.9.123_2.3.0_8mm-ga

it tells me :

fatal: Remote branch L4.9.123_2.3.0_8mm-ga not found in upstream origin

then I can we download the source code to build our own kernel

Try to download the porting guide again, since you are referring to L4.9.123 and its wrong you have to L4.14.98.

3. make disclean

it asks me so many options how am I proceed this ? the document doesnt say
