Hi,

I have i.MX51 EVK, and want to develop a control application using Windows Compact 7(WCE 700).

I saw that a WCE 700 BSP is available for the i.MX51, but have the following questions in mind:

  1. In the Release notes for WCE 700 BSP, In System Requirements, RealView ICE Kit is mentioned. Why is this kit required? If I don't have the kit can I still use the i.MX51 EVK with the WCE 700 BSP and develop my application.
  2. Has anyone used the WCE700 BSP? How has been your experience with it?
  3. Is this BSP a Windows Certified BSP?

Thanks and regards

- Deepak

Regarding question 3, at that time there was no BSP certification program for WEC7 from MSFT, however, FSL did work closely with MSFT on the BSP development, and MSFT ran lots of tests against this WEC7 BSP. That's why you can find some information of FSL i.MX WEC7 BSP in MSFT website:

Hi Deepak,

1 - Yes, you can use the WCE 700 BSP without the ICE. The ICE is a tool to debug the system, but it is not needed to install the BSP or run it in your application.

2 - My experience is good, but in the end, it always depend on your application if it is convenient for you to use either Windows, Linux or a different operating system. But this BSP works fine with the MX51.

3 - Not sure what you mean by Windows Certified. This BSP is certainly based in an original Windows operating system provided by Microsoft, but they don't give us any certification of any kind.

Best regards.

Jorge.
