What is 'digital mute' sending by an imx6ull ?

Hi all,

I am working on a imx6ull board and want sending a PCM 'digital mute' through the SD1_DATA3 pin to a SLIC device, but I don't quite understand what 'digital mute' is from the answer of my post few days before:

i.mx6ull uses wm8960, you can find the digital mute settings in the table as below,
