Cannot turn of Ethernet Chip 8720 using energy detect power down mode

Hello Everyone,

This question is related to ethernet phy driver.

We are using Android Nougat 7.1.2

We have SMSC ethernet chip LAN8720.

We have enabled the energy detect power down mode by enabling bit MII_LAN83C185_MODE_POWERDOWN of

MII_LAN83C185_CTRL_STATUS register.

Still when ethernet cable is not connected and ENERGYON bit is off, the chip is always on (the transceiver is always powered on) .

Have you seen this issue ?
