QN9080SIP BLE5.0 and QN908x BLE 4.2 only

We use QN908x  chip and all paperwork says it's BLE4.2.

Now i looked into QN9080SIP and it's based on QN908x and specs says it's BLE5.0

Does it mean QN908SIP uses some specific HW/SW?  Or can QN908x support BLE5.0?

And follow up question does QN908SIP supports BLE5.0 long range mode?

Thank you

Ricardo, thanks for your reply.

We already use couple dozens QN908x chips for production tools and couple years ago they were stated as BLE4.2.

In order to claim it as BLE 5.0 do we need latest chips or do we have to update SDK to the latest version?

The SDK we use is ver 2.2.0.

Also does your answer mean QN908x do not support 5.0 long range mode?

I know for new development you suggest KW39/38/37 but as of right now we don;t have resources to redesign the whole board.

Thank you

Hi,

As you can see on the "Bluetooth Low Energy Release Notes.pdf" from the latest SDK version (2.2.9), the BLE host stack and controller is BLE v5.0.

And this product does not support long range.

Ricardo

Hello,

Hope you are doing well. As you can see on the QN908x Data Sheet, this device is Bluetooth Low Energy (v5.0) compliant.

If you are interested in BLE 5.0 long range, please refer to KW39/38/37.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Ricardo
