Hi.

I'm developing a PCB circuit with a microcontroller and the NFC PN7150.

My hardware doesn't need a battery to work, so my question is:

Do the battery related pins VBAT1, VBAT2 and VBAT need to be connected to a 5V source or can they be left unused?

I can't find any information on that subject, so it is assumed that there will always be a backup battery.

Any comment or suggestion is welcome

Hello @dominusdrr .

Thank you for contacting NXP technical support.

>> Do the battery related pins VBAT1, VBAT2 and VBAT need to be connected to a 5V source or can they be left unused?

Need to be connected to  a 5V source.

Please kindly refer to the 12.5.3.2 Configuration 2: supply connection in case a 5 V supply is used to generate RF field with the use of TXLDO of the datasheet as the link.

Have a nice day.
