Hi,

I want to download the latest driver/firmware package for 88w9098 chip. I found following info about the format of package version(name).

javadR3_0-1701877975309.png

Couldn't find any info about the format of driver/firmware's release version.

ATM, there are many packages with different driver/firmware release versions(e.x. driver:366_P32, 405_P16, ... firmware: p136.58, p149.20, ...) and it is not clear which one is newer and what's the meaning of those numbers.

For example, comparing  PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p136.58-17.26.1.p136.58-MXM5X17366_P32_V0V1-GPL and PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p149.20-17.26.1.p149.20-MXM5X17405_P16_V0V1-GPL, the first one in newer based on the date on nxp website but looking at the content it seems the later one has a newer firmware.

Hi, @javadR3

If you are using our P136.xxx series, thinking of stability,  then I suggest you to still update to P136.xxx series to avoid some conflicts because they are compiled from different branches.

For new customers who didn't use P136.xxx release, we will suggest them to use P149.xxx.

We are facing some firmware crashes and it is important to have a more stable firmware.

==>For any issues including firmware crashes, please feel free to create SFDC case to us for further tracking.

Is there any relation between firmware release version(ex. p149.20) and driver relase version(405_P16)?

==>No, I don't think there is relationship between firmware release and driver release version. They have different naming rules and separate numeric to record.

Best regards,

Christine.

Hi, @javadR3

Thanks for pointing us and drawing a very clear Pic to better understanding our Release.

P149.xxx is compiled on our R10.X branch.

P136.xxx is compiled on our R9.x branch.

It means, P149.xxx is newer than P136.xxx.

You can double confirm this point from our release note:

1. In the release note of:

PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p136.58-17.26.1.p136.58-MXM5X17366_P32_V0V1-GPL

Bug Fixes/Feature Enhancements [Between R9.14 p136.57 to R9.15 p136.58]

2. In the release note of:

PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p149.14-17.26.1.p149.14-MXM5X17405_P9_V0V1-GPL

Bug Fixes/Feature Enhancements [Between R10.2 p149.15 to R10.3 p149.20]

Conclusion:

So I suggest you to use this "PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p149.20-17.26.1.p149.20-MXM5X17405_P16_V0V1-GPL" release for now, if you didn't have our P136.xxx release on your project and thinking about FP68 release, not FP92 release.

Hope it is clear for you, and have a nice day~

Best regards,

Christine.

Hi @Christine_Li,

Thank you for your quick reply. At the moment we are using P136.xxx release on your project but it think the effort for updating to both packages(P136.xxx, P149.xxx) is same. Do you still suggest using "PCIE-WLAN-UART-BT-9098-U16-X86-17.68.1.p149.20-17.26.1.p149.20-MXM5X17405_P16_V0V1-GPL"?

We are facing some firmware crashes and it is important to have a more stable firmware.

One more question: Is there any relation between firmware release version(ex. p149.20) and driver relase version(405_P16)?

Regards,

Javad
