What are we missing if Cortex-R is not being used

Hello,

In S32K we see that we are using Cortex-M core instead of Cortex-R core. According to ARM, Cortex-R core is designed for hard real-time system. Any clue why NXP chose to not use Cortex-R in any of their device family for hard real-time system?
