Hello everybody,

 

Does someone of you already manage to get a 10gigabit connection through the ethernet copper interface with the p4080ds?

Even with the freescale SDK, I can not establish a connection between my p4080 board and a dedicated computer with an ethernet card and a linux.

I know my question is very large but I can enter more in the details if someone of you works on this specific subject.

 

I already work on the SERDES errata 8, changing the hwconfig and trying several RCW without success.

I dream of the day during which I will get a ping...

 

Any suggestion on how to process is greatly appreciated!

I just spoke to one of our team members in a test lab.  They have verified 10g copper working on their setup. I asked them to give me the u-boot log and hwconfig variable. The u-boot is an internal build likely based off SDK 1.2.  The important thing is to note the rcw and hwconfig settings.

Also, what slot is the 10g XAUI riser connected to? Slot 5 corresponds to FM1@TGEC1 and Slot 4 corresponds to FM2@TGEC1.

I recommend trying to ping directly from u-boot before loading Linux. It can help narrow down where the problem occurs.

Environment size: 1182/8188 bytes

After changing hwconfig to "fsl_ddr:ctlr_intlv=cacheline,bank_intlv=cs0_cs1,ecc=off", (serdes config to make bank2/3 power-on). I started seeing 10g card in slot4 FM2@TGEC1.

for testing purpose I connected both 10g to local lan, keeping rest of the interfaces disconnected. (not trying to boot from 10g, just checking connectivity), however I could not see any response on 10g interface.

Was curious if this issue was ever resolved?

Is you 10G link connected to a 10G capable interface?  Some of the 10G copper PHY's will only connect at 10G with the XAUI interface on the 4080.

What does ethtool say the link status is?

it uses linux generic 10G driver and it looks like it sets link status hard coded

I also updated ramdisk, kernel, u-boot and Fman microcode

.... no link on PC phy

I got the interface in linux but no ping ,
