Hello!

Dose  T2080(or T4240) support 1000base-X? There is no description about 1000Base-X in the RM, except the SGMII_IF_MODE register in MDIO space.

If T2080 dose support 1000Base-X, how can I enable it?  And , what about the auto-negotiation function? Dose 1000Base-X  use the same AN registers with SGMII?

    Thanks!

Have a great day,

The T2080(or T4240) supports 1000base-X in the way like it supports SGMII (1.25 Gbaud). The SGMII specification is closely related to 1000Base-X in that each utilizes the same Physical Coding Sublayer and Physical Medium Attachment layers. What distinguishes SGMII from 1000Base-X is the information that is exchanged during the auto-negotiation sequence as well as rate adaptation that allows SGMII to operate at three speeds. 1000Base-X use the same AN registers with SGMII.

There is app. note AN3869 “Implementing SGMII Interfaces on the PowerQUICC™ III” on the NXP site. It compares SGMII and 1000BaseX and explains difference of the initializations. It refers to the PQ3 TSEC registers but it is still useful for the T2080 (or T4240).
