Matching the MRFX1K80H: Bandwidth vs Gain vs Output power vs Efficiency

Hello,

I've already used the MRFX1K80H transistor for narrowbands amplifiers, and the RF matching was quite easy to do.

But now I have to design a broadband power amplifier, to cover for example the 80-400 MHz band.

My question is: The MRFX1K80H is specified to be used from 1.8 to 400 MHz, but practically how can I estimate the maximum bandwidth that can be achieved by the amplifier, for a given gain/output power/efficiency ?

For example, is it realistic to design an amplifier with the MRFX1K80H that cover the 80-400 MHz band, with a 23 dB gain and 500 Watts output power ? (the values I give are just for the example).

Of course one possible solution would be to simulate it with a non-linear simulator tool, but unfortunately I don't have one; and I'd rather prefer a more theoretical approach, as a first step.

Thanks a lot for your help, or any documentation you have in mind that can be of interest !

Best regards,

Antoine

Hello,

I think these links may be useful for you.

Unfortunately, NXP does not offer broadband reference designs other than those on the website. You have to design such an amplifier on your own or contact a third-party design center.
