Hi,

I am using NX18P3001 in my design. As per Table 4. Function table (attached here), they have shown all the functional operation mode.

  1. What will happen if VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V in active mode with EN_n = L?
  2. Will it work as OTG/Charging mode?
  3. Will it damage NX18P3001 IC or remains functional?

Regards,

Mrudang

Hi Mrudang,

1. The device switch is still closed with VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V.

2. I am not sure about this question. This device is a bi-direction OVP switch.

3. Short to ground or current exceeding 3A continuous current can damage this chip.

Best regards,

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

Please see my comments inlines:

1. The device switch is still closed with VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V.

Mrudang: That means Mosfet gets ON even we have 5V power at both VBUSI and VBUSO side. And it will work fine, no damages.

2. I am not sure about this question. This device is a bi-direction OVP switch.

Mrudang: I am asking with question#1 what will be the operation mode stage? Is it OTG/Charging mode?

3. Short to ground or current exceeding 3A continuous current can damage this chip.

Mrudang: We are shorting with GND here. What I mean, power available at both side VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V. Will this damage our IC?

Regards,

Mrudang

Hi Mrudang,

1. Yes, no damages.

2. VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V, no current go through this devices, it isn’t OTG/Charging mode.

VBUSI is 5.001V and VBUSO is 5V, current go through this devices from VBUSI to VBUSO, it is Charging mode.

VBUSI is 5.V and VBUSO is 5.001V, current go through this devices from VBUSO to VBUSI, it is OTG mode.

3. VBUSI is 5V and VBUSO also 5V, Ii will not damage this IC, I am talking about short to ground, for example is VBUSI is 5V, but VBUSO short to ground.

Best regards,

Tomas
