ODP and DPDK are open-source project that defines a standard set of APIs for data-plane to be used across the different network processor architectures. This session details how the standard DPDK and ODP APIs are being mapped to NXP data-path acceleration for specific packet processing elements (packet IO, classification, scheduling, crypto, etc.). It also propose various possible API extensions to get additional performance on NXP SoCS. This presentation will cover how the ODP and DPDK can provide the necessary infrastructure for virtualized environments.

Networking devices use high-speed differential signaling that can exceed 10 Gbps. Circuit design for the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) elements in the high speed channel have capabilities of offset signal losses in the PCB and system. This session will review the high-speed signal channel and its characteristics and illustrate how the TX and RX circuits in general are used to offset signal losses. It will also show key characteristics of the channels that are needed to allow these TX and RX circuits to work effectively. This session will also address maximum length of the PCB channel, PCB-specific structures that need to be optimized and the usage of the IBIS-AMI models for 5-10 Gbps operation. Examples of channels from PCB designs at NXP will also be included. Watch Video Presentation

This technical lecture presents how Toradex built a balancing robot demo application using the new i.MX 7's heterogeneous asymmetric architecture. i.MX 7 features a secondary Cortex-M4, which can be used for real-time or low-power applications. We will discuss how to make use of the secondary core with a FreeRTOS based firmware implementing the closed loop controller to keep the robot balanced upright. On the powerful main CPU complex, a dual Cortex-A7, Linux is running a Qt based user interface. We will go into details about the rpmsg/OpenAMP based messaging offerings provided by NXP. The robot demo application makes use of rpmsg to communicate between the two independently running processor cores and operating systems.

Companies and consumers alike are excited about the opportunities offered by the IoT and the Smart Home. Concerns on user-friendliness and security are however holding potential customers back: how can I install it? , what if my neighbor hacks into my network? NFC technology addresses these cost, ease of use and security concerns by offering short distance out-of-band pairing capabilities that reduce the complex commissioning system to a simple 'tap'. And with NXP's connected NFC tag technology, IoT nodes of all sizes do not even need to be powered. Watch Video Presentation
