Hi,

We are trying to custom our target board. I read the Gainspan document, it said the Gainspan MQX Stack is based on  ENET.

Now we want to get rid of the 50Mhz clock on our board, I am not sure if we want to use Gainspan wifi GS1500M, do we need the 50Mhz clock?

Please advice.

Thank you.

Hi Daniel,

The main reason for the 50MHz clock on the board is to have the PHY chip and Kinetis on the same clock phase. Since the WiFi module uses SPI/UART instead of RMII, that clock dependency is no longer there, and thus you should be able to use another frequency. Note though that the example code will assume at 50Mhz clock coming into the part still.
