Hi, SIUL2_GPDOn is accesed per byte, when 1 byte access affects one pins. This way it was historically implemented on predecessor devices.

As multiple pin groups may be wanted to be set/cleared at once, SIUL2_PGPDOn has been added where 1 bit = 1 pin.

You can use both ways.
