I'm looking at using this chip in a design, but have two questions:

1) The datasheet doesn't say: are the LCD_SCL and LCD_SDA pins internally connected to the processor SCL and SDA pins? Or do they need to be wired externally?

2) Section 7.2.5.1 says that I can drive the LCD using the internal oscillator by connecting pin OSC to pin VSS(LCD). I can't find pin OSC in the pinning information. Is this already done internally?

Thanks,

MX

What NXP support did you try - nxp.com ?

Yes, http://www.classic.nxp.com/techsupport/index.php.  I have several outstanding tech support tickets after several weeks.

I found the information very clear.

On page 1 of the PDF:
and then on page 4 there is a nice picture showing the I2C pins of the lpc1227 and the pcf8576 being brought out separately.

Well, I've been burned before by believing simplified block diagrams.  They tend not to show every single connection.
Looking at the manual, figure 3 page 6, shows the OSC pin being brought out, but it actually does not.

Is this the right place to ask this?  NXP tech support does not respond either.

Yeah, this is probable the best place to ask.

I'm guessing not enough people are using that IC yet.
I could be wrong and I'm too lazy to double check but I have a vague recollection of looking at the IC a while ago and it looked to me that you needed to connect the I2C pins externally.
