Hi,

I would like to know if JTAG and BDM are available on the MCF5282, and if both these interfaces can be used to program the internal flash memory on a bare board (which does not contain any downloader/firmware)

How can we program the internal flash on a new board , and what hw/sw will be required for this purpose?

According to Freescale's product summary, the MCF5282 has JTAG and BDM:

Consult this PDF for information about programming the on-board flash memory:

If you have more questions, let me know.

Marc.

The cyclone Max allows us to program via BDM. It does not mention programming flash/ram via JTAG.

Can we write to the internal flash directly using the Cyclone Max? Or do we need to use a loader program in the SRAM first, and then load the image to the Flash?

CodeWarrior Dev Studio for ColdFire 6.2 allows you to program the on-chip flash memory using any supported hardware connection (examples: P&E Microcomputer's USB and parallel devices, Abatron's BDI1000 and BDI2000 devices):

CodeWarrior tools for ColdFire currently do not support P&E's Cyclone Max, but I've passed your message along as a feature request.

To get more information about Cyclone Max, please contact P&E directly:

hi marc.

thanks a lot!

So my options for bareboard programming are:

BDI2000 + codewarrior ( listed as supported )

or, PE CycloneMAX + the tools provided by them.
