As you probably suspect, the Special and Stanard Editions might not have sufficient capabilities (in terms of code size limits or other restrictions) to work with the MQX RTOS. If you are going to evaluate the software, you might as well download the fully-featured Evaluation version of CodeWarrior and try it for 30 days to accurately assess the capabilities of the product, rather than trip over the limitations.
The short answer to your question is that the Special Edition and Standard Edition do support the Kinetis part.
