RNDIS doesnot retain the IP after unplug and plug

Question asked by Amol Kulkarni on May 17, 2013

I am using ltib "L2.6.31_09.12.01_SDK_source" on i.mx35 .

I have enabled the RNDIS Ethernet gadget for which I want to set the static ip address so I did the following changes in in /etc/rc.d/rc.conf

export SYSCFG_IFACE1=y

export INTERFACE1="usb0"

export IPADDR1=""

export NETMASK1=""

export BROADCAST1=""

after this changes when I reboot the board I see usb0 as the Ethernet device and static ip is assigned to it. I checked using ifconfig.

But when I unplug and plug the usb Ethernet device I don’t see the usb0 Ethernet device when I do ifconfig.

in order to enable  after unplug and plug the usb Ethernet gadget I restarted the network " sh /etc/rc.d/rcS" then it worked.

so what should I do  to get the ip address assigned automatically when I unplug and plug the usb Ethernet gadget?
