Hi, Experts

     We are looking for a MCU to handle multiple CAN FD devices. The i.mx RT 11xx serie looks perfect match but I just find out that the RX FIFO and DMA can NOT be used when enable CAN FD mode.  This worries me since there may be some performance issue w/o DMA involvement especially when multiple CAN FD communications reach full speed rate (~ 8M).  Do we have any performance data or statement about CAN FD w/ mailbox system vs classic RX FIFO/DMA?  or any performance limitations and cautions about using i.mx RT 11xx to handling CAN FD high speed scenarios?

Hello,

 

Thank you in advance for contacting NXP support.

We currently do not have a documentation that include performance of limitations on the CAN FD for the RT1170. In this case we have the information that is included on our ERRATA (that does not show any limitation on the CAN FD)  and Reference manual documentation. Please let me know if there is anything else where we can help you.
