I'm using MIMXRT1170-EVK and referring to the schematic.

I have a question about WDOG_B.

Why is the C189 DNP? Is this board no need to be reset by WDOG_B?

Hi @Eugene3 ,

Thank you for your interest in the NXP MIMXRT product, I would like to provide service for you.

WDGO_B is the watchdog generated signal output. It can used to trigger the outside circuit, eg, your pictues reset chip.

But in the EVK board, it is not connect it, it is still use the watchdog software reset.

So, if you want to use the external hardware reset, you can solder the C189.

Wish it helps you!

Best Regards,

Kerry

Hi @kerryzhou

Thank you for your information.

What is the difference between the watchdog software reset and POR_B reset?

I know the WDOG_B turns off DCDC enable on the EVK board. But I'm studying to connect WDOG_B to POR_B on my application board or not.

Hi @Eugene3 ,

software reset is like the system reset, you can refer to the following picture:

You will find when use the software reset, the TCM, OCRAM, IOMUXC_GPR, SRC_GPR is retain.

But, if POR, the above item will be reset.

Wish it helps you!

Best Regards,

Kerry
