Using a LPIART on an IMX8X to implement a SSI to an absolute encoder?

I'm staring a new design and was wondering if it is possible to use an UART to implement a SSI to connecting to an absolute encoder?

Thank you for your interest in NXP Semiconductor products,

It's possible but you have to perform your own customization to LPUART driver, it'd easier to do in Cortex-M UART, and easier to do in Cortex-M / Cortex-A GPIO.
