How do I know the patch has been applied successfully? And then how do I load the custom splash during uboot process (before linux startup)
Do I need to rebuild kernel image, becos I m only able to build uboot.bin only (due to some hardware issue). Is only uboot.bin sufficient?

if your uboot logo keep from uboot to kernel, which means your patch is available, if you use the kernel patch, you need to rebuild kernel again
