Booting from MMC card (stuck at a point)

Hi,

I am facing a boot problem working with iMX51 EVK board.

I have flashed the MMC card with the custom images created through LTIB and VMware Linux host. I have also set the environmental variables for U-Boot via the serial input. When I start the board with switch settings to boot from MMC/SD, I get the following logs on the screen. It gets stuck at the last log and does not boot.

Please help.

Thanks for the reply Matt.

I am building the Gnome profile now (its taking a hell lot of time).

Do you have any insight about why I am getting login prompt on hyper-terminal and not on the DVI monitor. I believe I need to change some environmental variables for this. Do you have any suggestions for this?

Also, I fail to understand the case of conflicting logs on serial console and DVI monitor.

If you want X, I recommend using the Ubuntu rootfs image that you'll find on the freescale website. Check the Ubuntu startup guide in the linuxdocs package for instructions on how to setup an sd card with this image. If you want to build X support via ltib, you should build the gnome profile (./ltib -m selectype).

Hi Matt,

Changing to "console=ttymxc0,115200 console=tty0 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait rw" worked, and I was able to login to freescale root,

but I am getting different logs in the hyper terminal and the video output screen connected to the board. Only hyper terminal at host PC connected to board is showing a prompt to login, but I am getting mounting filesystem error (write error: no space on disk) on the video output screen of board. While the hyper-terminal logs show that filesystem has been mounted.

Also, after login I am not able to start X11, which i used in configuration option of LTIB while building the kernal.

The hyper-terminal logs are as follows:

Your kernel command line looks incorrect:

console=ttymxc0,115200 console=tty0 root=/dev/sdb1 rootwait rw root=/dev/sdb rootwait rw console=tty0 root=/dev/sdb1 rootwait rw

Modify your u-boot env variables such that it looks like this:

console=ttymxc0,115200 console=tty0 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait rw

You can use these commands at the u-boot prompt:

setenv serverip 192.168.1.200
setenv fec_addr 00:04:9f:01:1b:5f
setenv ethaddr 00:04:9f:01:1b:5f
setenv loadaddr 0x90800000
setenv bootargs_base 'setenv bootargs console=ttymxc0,115200 console=tty0'
setenv bootargs_mmc 'setenv bootargs ${bootargs} root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait rw ip=dhcp'
setenv bootcmd_mmc 'run bootargs_base bootargs_mmc;mmc read 0 ${loadaddr} 0x800 0x1800;bootm'
setenv bootcmd 'run bootcmd_mmc'
saveenv

Yes, you can set the serverip and the mac addresses to whatever works for your system. That's just what I use in my environment.

Hi Matt Clemens

Thanks for the reply.

Can you tell me the reason of assigning a static IP in the environmental variables? Can I set a static IP according to the local LAN network I connect my board to??
