We're considering a 88W8997-based wifi/bt module for audio devices and it would be very useful to us to have a mechanism to perform accurate time synchronization between devices via wifi or bluetooth. Is there any current or planned support for this?

Ideal would be support for one or both mechanisms for time sync over wifi standardized in 802.1AS (gPTP) clause 12 of course, but even something as basic as the ability to obtain a TSF-timestamp of a GPIO pulse would already suffice (since the TSF timer is already synchronized to the AP you're connected to).

Dear @mvduin ,

See below, please!

Here is the link of the driver document.

https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/release-note/RN00104.pdf

The clcoksync is not 802.1AS,  we call it TSF, below is the introduction:

Please check if it can meet your requirements!

[Note]

The document is an application note(AN13439) , which is a secure file, NDA is required , after NDA is done, you can log in NXP website, and press "My NXP Account" , select "Secure Files" , follow the guidance to apply for access rights.

Thanks!

Regards,

Thank you for looking into it. We're also interested in the same question for the newer IW612.
