I'm currently working on a project that involves using NXP's RC523 RFID reader chip. I plan to use it in conjunction with MUAES (MIFARE Ultralight AES) cards, but I'm uncertain about the compatibility, especially regarding AES encryption.
From my understanding, the RC523 supports the ISO/IEC 14443 A protocol, which is also the standard for MUAES cards. However, I’ve read that the RC523 primarily supports Crypto1 encryption and doesn’t directly handle AES encryption.
I would like to clarify the following:
- Can the RC523 communicate with MUAES cards?
- If so, does the AES encryption need to be handled externally via an MCU or another security module?
- Are there any example codes or documentation available that could guide me through this implementation?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance on this matter.
