OTP FS8530 using Freedom KL25Z Board

Hi,

I want to OTP an onboard SBC of FS8530 using a Freedom KL25z board. As stated in the application note, AN12333 chapter 17, I should be able to use the KL25z board for emulation and OTP the SBC over I2C using the FlexGUI provided by NXP for FS85/FS84.

I  have already done the OTP for the FS85 using the FS85 SBC Eval Board. However, I am not sure how to do the same process using the FlexGUI and the freedom KL25z board. 

When I connect the KL25z board over the USB, the FlexGUI is not finding the MCU. Is there an application note for how to use the freedom KL25z for OTP the FS85?

Hi @Harris_cap,
Based on my experience, NXP does not provide any binary file for you to flash to the Freedom KL25z board.
Unless you decide to take a crack at it yourself, Freedom KL25z board will not help with OTPing the SBC FS85 chips.
For OTPing the SBC FS85 chips, you can use either the Evaluation board or the Programming board. In my experience, both work fine. Ironically both boards have the same KL25z MCU on them.

I am looking to OTP an FS8530 SBC and found that AN12333 (Chapter 17) mentions using the Freedom KL25Z board with FlexGUI for this process. Before proceeding, I’d like to confirm whether this setup actually works.

Has anyone successfully used the Freedom KL25Z for OTP programming of the FS8500 SBC? If so, are there any specific steps or additional configurations required? Additionally, are there any alternative methods available for OTP programming the FS8500 SBC?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
